Crochet covered stones 4-6

I finished these all up, so I'll just post them all at once =) Original post explaining the reason for these stones is here.

This is stone 4. The pattern is here- it's called the pinwheel doily. In case it's not obvious, I just started at the beginning and continued until it was large enough to fit the stone-I couldn't fit an entire doily on there, could I?

Stone 5 is the floral star doily, a free pattern download from Ravelry (you must be a member to access this).

And stone 6 is the sunburst doily, with some modifications-I tossed the pattern after the first couple of rows, and just did some treble crochet with sc between.

I hope the folks receiving them enjoy them, and I can't wait to see what I get in return. I'll be sure to post it for everyone's enjoyment and inspiration.

Crochet covered stone 3

Keeping up with the stones, here is the third. I have 3 more to make. This one is the beginning of the spider doily (click for free pattern) This worked a little better than the 2nd stone, since it is more circular. Now, off to pore through the millions of free doily patterns for the 4th stone!

Crochet covered stone 2

It takes a little more finagling when not using the already prepared crochet covered stone pattern. I wanted to make each stone different, so I found this pattern for a snowflake doily for stone 2. What do you think? Do you prefer this or stone 1?

A break from the monster quilt-crochet covered stone!

If you're sick of seeing monsters, today's post is for you! I joined a yahoo group that is specifically for swapping nature table items (don't know what a nature table is? here's a great explanation) After debating many things to make for my first swap (the theme is summer), I decided on crochet covered rocks. I didn't have the materials for other things I wanted to make, and all this took was some cotton crochet thread, and rocks from my backyard! I followed the pattern here for this stone, and am going to attempt to improvise something a little different for each stone. It was pretty easy going, until putting it on the stone, and that took a little while, as I had to rest between hand cramps! What do you think?

Sackboy

Any other fans of Little Big Planet out there? In honor of Little Big Planet 2 coming out, I made Zboy a Sackboy. He loves to watch the game and even plays it (though not well-come on, he's only 2!) I need to get a better picture of him. Zboy loves him, and especially loves the big, wobbly head. The pattern is here if anyone else is interested. I need some black yarn to redo his eyes and give him a mouth. I didn't want to use button eyes as Zgirl gets a hold of everything anymore, and buttons + baby=bad news.

I got my parts in the mail for the block of the month quilt I'm doing with my mom. She picked this month's fabrics. I'm doing the first monster, "Star monster", in blues.

Amigurumi food

I've recently embarked on a mission to make Zboy some fake food. I've got some eco-felt, and blended wool felt (100% wool felt is just too pricey for right now) and some projects coming up with that, but for now, I'm crocheting some amigurumi food.

This comes along with a pattern for other vegetables as well. I wouldn't use this pattern again (except for the leaves, which look really neat) The carrot looks awfully lumpy and not very "carroty" in my opinion.
Carrot pattern is here
I can't get a good picture of this-the red all kind of fuzzes together.

Toddler scarflette

I made this to match the spiral hat I made Zanthias. It's got a hole you can insert one end into so the scarf stays nice and tight around little necks and doesn't add a lot of bulk. It was a very quick and easy crochet.

Rhythm of the home fiber testing

I was chosen to be a fiber tester for Rhythm of the Home-it's an awesome quarterly magazine full of all kinds of goodies. I made a few adaptations to the pattern, using a smaller hook and 3 strands of worsted weight yarn held together. I also added extra rows of HDC to make it long enough for Zgirl. I think it turned out quite well! This is just an acrylic yarn I got at a thrift store years ago-it's one of the nicest, softest acrylics I've come across.
Here's the link to the pattern.

Crocheted hoodie

This is the picture from the pattern.
See the weird hood shape? And how huge it is? (even though Zboy has an admittedly large head)

I used the pattern from the Bernat site (you'll have to register to see the actual pattern) It took me a while to crochet-I have limited time for crafts, and it's always split up among so many projects. Overall, I'm a bit disappointed with the pattern. I made the 2 year size and it ended up being too big. The hood is weirdly shaped as well, and too large for the hoodie, in my opinion. I used Cascade ecological wool yarn, and it was wonderful to work with, especially for the price (around $15 for a HUGE skein-it made 3 large balls of yarn) It's still cute, and was super easy, but I wish the fit was better.

Is anyone else on Ravelry? Feel free to add me-my user name is dahlea.
